Volume 1 covers all those servicemen who surnames being with the letters A - E inclusive.  The first soldier listed is Bernard Acott with the final listing being Samuel Evett.  Over 200 biographies are included in the book, which also includes articles on memorials and cemeteries with a focus on commemoration in Gravesend.  Features on the 1917 Memorial Boards now housed in the Old Town Hall and the work behind the main commemorative memorial on Windmill Hill.  This includes a previously unpublished photograph of the unveiling of the memorial.  There is also an article summarising the history of the Royal West Kent Regiment, the Queen’s Own and the Royal East Kent Regiment, The Buffs.

Volume 2 covers all those servicemen who surnames being with the letters F - M inclusive.  The first soldier listed is George Fairbrass with the final listing being Frank Murr. Over 200 biographies are included in the book, which also includes articles on Herbert Baker who designed many of the memorials and cemeteries and a review of medals awarded during The Great War

The Valour Still Shines - Volume 3, N-Y

 

Volume 3 covers all those servicemen who surnames being with the letters N - Y inclusive. Some 200 biographies are included in the book which includes an article on the Hiscock Family, Gravesend – Frederick Hiscock being in charge of recruiting in Gravesend at the start of Word War 1.

Volume 3 completes the set focusing on the servicemen listed on the Windmill Hill Memorial – the main Great War Memorial in the Borough.
